Exactly a year after the release of the Sony WH-1000XM6, a major leak has revealed details about the upcoming model in the series. The information was shared by informant @OnLeaks in collaboration with HotEUDeals. They published a collection of official promotional materials for a model with the unusual name Sony 1000X ‘The ColleXion’. The model is expected to be positioned as a more premium, and therefore more expensive, product rather than a direct successor to the WH-1000XM6.
The leaked posters from Sony do not provide specific details about the upgrades or the specifications of the drivers. They only mention that this is a special development. The model has been tuned in collaboration with three mastering studios: Battery Studios, Sterling Sound, and Coast Mastering. Like the WH-1000XM6, the new model is based on the Sony QN3 chip, but it also features a new auxiliary chip, the V3, with an unknown purpose. The battery life is said to be notably lower than that of the WH-1000XM6, at 24 hours compared to 30 hours with ANC enabled.
The package includes a pouch with a handle and magnetic closure, a 1.2-metre 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. However, there are discrepancies regarding the USB-C charging cable: it is not mentioned on one slide, but it is listed on another. More details about the Sony 1000X ‘The ColleXion’ will be revealed during tomorrow’s presentation. The estimated price is €600 (£530) (US$649) which is €200 (£175) (US$200) more than the WH-1000XM6.
