Google refined its Quick Share file transfer technology last fall, adding compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop system. The company tested the feature on its Pixel lineup before beginning to roll it out to Android devices from other manufacturers.

In its June Android security patch release, Google reported that AirDrop through Quick Share is now available on select OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Honor devices. The Samsung list includes all models in the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and 7, the Flip 6 and 7, and the Z TriFold. Devices next in line for the feature include upcoming Motorola and Honor models, alongside the OPPO Find X8 family.

The expansion arrives as manufacturers prepare for broader shifts in the mobile market. Android 2026 updates are expected to bring additional cross-platform capabilities, while recent data on global smartphone sales by OS shows increasing competition among platforms. Samsung and Google continue pushing interoperability as a selling point for best smartphones of 2026 contenders.
