Last year in October, Samsung revealed that it was developing smart glasses with AI capabilities. The tech giant worked alongside Google and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. At this year’s Google I/O event, the companies offered the first official glimpse of the forthcoming Android XR wearable.
The AI smart glasses will come in two distinct styles. Gentle Monster and Warby Parker each created one version. Google and Samsung have yet to reveal the detailed hardware specifications, but they did share some of the key features that the glasses will offer.

Google and Samsung stated that the AI glasses will run on Android XR. They will provide hands-free access to Gemini via voice commands. Users will be able to receive turn-by-turn navigation, discover nearby places, and get real-time, personalized recommendations. The glasses will also support a range of productivity features. These include placing orders, viewing summarized message notifications, and creating calendar events.

The Android XR glasses will also enable real-time translation during conversations. The built-in camera and AI capabilities can provide instant translation of text and signs. The camera can also be used to capture photos and videos. Like most smart glasses currently on the market, this new wearable will function as a companion device that pairs with a smartphone.
While detailed hardware specifications have yet to be revealed, official images show the glasses equipped with a single camera and an LED indicator light. The AI-powered smart glasses developed by Samsung and Google are slated to launch later this fall, with additional details expected to be shared in the coming months.
