Current market turbulence and the high cost of 2-nm chipsets are already indicating that Android flagship devices from autumn 2026 will be significantly more expensive than their predecessors. In an effort to mitigate this price increase, manufacturers are making various adjustments to the hardware, as regularly reported by informant Digital Chat Station. This time, they have revealed that no compact flagship device will feature the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip.
In a recent publication, the source stated that four flagship devices with smaller screens will use the new Dimensity 9600 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips, as well as last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Dimensity 9600 Pro is expected to be used in the Vivo X500 and Honor Magic 9, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is anticipated in the Xiaomi 18 and 18 Pro. The OPPO Find X10 is not considered a compact device. The compact version, the Find X10s, is planned for release in the spring.
When describing these four compact devices, the insider attributes to them substantial batteries with a capacity of no less than 8000 mAh, 200-Mp LOFIC cameras (two in some models), relatively large vibration motors, and symmetrical stereo speakers. More specific details about each model will be revealed closer to autumn.
