Google announced Wear OS 7, the latest version of its smartwatch operating system, at the I/O 2026 event. The update promises a 10% improvement in battery life compared to Wear OS 6. Among the key features of Wear OS 7 are new flexible and dynamic widgets. These widgets replace full-screen tiles and are available in 2×1 or 2×2 block formats, displaying app information in a style reminiscent of Android 16 widgets.

Wear OS 7 introduces a universal, standardised fitness tracking interface, enhanced media controls, and Live Updates for real-time tracking of processes such as delivery status on the watch face. Google claims that some watch models launching later this year (with a clear nod to the Pixel Watch 5) will feature Gemini Intelligence. This technology offers users proactive and personalised assistance, allowing them to focus on what truly matters. The launch of Wear OS 7 is scheduled for later this year.
Google states the price of Pixel Watch 5 will be €499 and $499.
Google asserts that some models of smartwatches, which will go on sale later this year (a clear hint at the Pixel Watch 5), will be equipped with the technology Gemini Intelligence, “providing users with anticipatory and personalised assistance so they can focus on what is truly important”
