Sennheiser Launches Momentum 5 Headphones With Removable Battery

Last Updated: May 27, 2026 By Marcelos Bakron

German audio brand Sennheiser has officially unveiled the Momentum 5, a full-size wireless headphone designed to replace the Momentum 4. The new model aims to raise the bar for the series while maintaining the core formula that drove the predecessor’s success. Sennheiser states that the company focused on improving the entire user experience without departing from the established design language.

The new model retains the familiar silhouette and houses the trusted 42 mm drivers. However, Sennheiser has expanded sound capabilities with Hi-Res Audio certification and Snapdragon Sound technology. This setup supports Bluetooth audio codecs up to aptX Lossless. Bluetooth 6.0 support is also included in the new hardware. By doubling the number of microphones dedicated to active noise cancellation, the company claims it has tripled the system’s effectiveness compared to the previous generation.

The headline feature of the Momentum 5 is its user-replaceable battery. A small Phillips-head screwdriver is all that is needed to swap out the cell. This move is intended to extend the headphones’ usable life for years even as the battery ages. The 700 mAh cell delivers up to 57 hours of playtime with active noise cancellation, a three-hour drop from the Momentum 4. A quick five-minute top-up adds roughly three hours of listening.

The bundle includes a USB-C charging cable and a 3.5 mm analog audio cable. U.S. sales begin June 16 at $399.99 (about €366). That is $50 more than the Momentum 4’s launch price. Sennheiser does not officially distribute Momentum 5 in Russia, though the headphones are expected to reach local retailers soon.
