A special anniversary stream for The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion has been officially announced by CD Projekt, sparking speculation the studio may tease more DLC for the game.
The broadcast is scheduled for May 28 at 5pm CEST, which equates to 8am PT, 1pm ET, and 4pm UK time. CD Projekt stated in a
that the event would see them
return once more to the land of knights, vineyards, and vampires!
There is no indication that the stream will feature any official announcements. However, this has not deterred fans from anticipating potential confirmation of the long-rumoured The Witcher 3 DLC. A recent report suggested the possibility of a ‘Dune-style’ location for the new, so far unannounced adventure. This could potentially arrive later this year, adding to The Witcher 3 despite the game being over a decade old at this point.
Released on May 30, 2016, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine received praise from fans for expanding the established world and providing closure to characters like Geralt.
Community members reacted with a mix of hope and caution.
Am I getting baited again?
one fan wondered in response to the stream news.
If the third DLC isn’t announced I will freak out. Just letting you know now,
another added.
I still have high hopes for that DLC guys don’t you let us all down,
pleaded another.
It remains a very busy period for CD Projekt. The Witcher 4 production continues, although CD Projekt has cautioned fans not to expect its launch until 2027 at the earliest. The company plans an ambitious six-year roadmap in which it will also launch The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6.
Although further DLC for The Witcher 3 may be in development, CD Projekt has ruled out more DLC for Cyberpunk, suggesting fans will indeed have to wait for Cyberpunk 2 to return to its much-loved dystopian universe. And the wait looks like it’s going to be significant; Cyberpunk 2 is further behind The Witcher 4, and CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has suggested Cyberpunk 2 won’t be out until at least 2030.
Nevertheless, more Cyberpunk content is arriving soon outside the world of video games. CD Projekt has announced a panel dedicated to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, offering fans a closer look at the much-anticipated standalone series. The panel is set for July 3 at 7.30pm PT.
