Capcom has released a free demo for Resident Evil Village, allowing players to try out the survival horror title before purchasing it.

The demo became available three months after the game’s launch in February and is now accessible on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It can also be downloaded on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

“The demo version allows you to play part of the game’s early stages,” Capcom said in a statement. “Please note that save data from the demo version cannot be transferred to the full version of the game.”

Players who have tested the demo report that it includes Ethan Winters’ first moments inside the Castle Dimitrescu. The demo also covers a short section where Ethan interacts with a key character. This gives players a chance to experience key moments and encounter one of the game’s most recognizable enemies.

If you’re unsure whether the game runs well on your PC or want to test its performance on Nintendo Switch, the demo offers a way to evaluate it without spending money.

Capcom has already sold over 7 million copies of Resident Evil Village and stated that the game’s strong performance improved its financial outlook for the year. Earlier this month, the studio released a free roguelike mode called Maiden. But fans are more interested in the upcoming story DLC, which is expected later this year.

The survival horror genre continues to evolve, as seen in other recent titles like a major film adaptation that expands the franchise beyond games. Meanwhile, action RPGs such as Crimson Desert have been adding fresh content, proving the genre’s staying power.
