One UI 8.5 Stable Rollout Hits Samsung Galaxy M55, A16 5G and A17 5G

Last Updated: May 30, 2026

Three additional Samsung handsets are now receiving the stable One UI 8.5 update, with rollout beginning for the Galaxy M55, Galaxy A16 5G, and Galaxy A17 5G.

One UI 8.5 went live for the Galaxy S24 series globally earlier this year, and Samsung has since been expanding availability to more devices across its portfolio. The update brings performance refinements and the latest security protections to mid-range hardware that typically waits longer than flagships for major software revisions.

Galaxy M55

Galaxy M55 owners can look for firmware build M556BXXU5DZE3. This package carries the May 2026 Android security patch and needs approximately 3GB of free storage. The rollout is currently limited to India, which follows Samsung’s pattern of testing major updates in its largest single market before wider distribution.

For the Galaxy A16 5G, Samsung is pushing firmware version A166PXXU7DZE2. This update also includes the May 2026 Android security patch and comes in at roughly 2.3GB. Users in India and Indonesia are seeing the first wave of distribution, suggesting Samsung is prioritizing South and Southeast Asian markets where this model has seen strong sales.

Galaxy A17 5G

The Galaxy A17 5G update arrives as build A176BXXU5CZE9 with the same May 2026 security patch. Download size is about 2.4GB. This rollout covers a broader footprint, with availability in India, Nepal, France, Bulgaria, and Vietnam. The wider geographic spread indicates Samsung may be treating this as a higher-priority device within its A-series hierarchy.

Samsung continues to broaden One UI 8.5 coverage across its lineup. The company recently expanded the update to Galaxy Tab S11 series tablets and widened S23 series availability as part of its ongoing deployment. Android maintains its dominant position in global smartphone operating systems, and Samsung’s update cadence remains a key factor in retaining that ecosystem loyalty among mid-tier buyers who might otherwise consider competitors.
