Spartacus: House of Ashur

Starz has reportedly pulled the plug on Steven S. DeKnight's Spartacus: House of Ashur after just one season. Deadline reports that the alternate timeline spin-off has concluded after Season 1 wrapped up with 10 episodes earlier this year. According to the site, the show did not attract the viewership needed to continue. Sources indicate that "the makeup of the follow-up’s audience did not quite align with Starz’s focus on women and underrepresented audiences." Spartacus: House of Ashur is now in search of a new platform. Lionsgate Television is reportedly in the process of shopping the series to other networks, though potential buyers have yet to be announced. The first season of Spartacus: House of Ashur aired at the end of last year. It explores an alternate timeline where Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) survives beyond the events of Spartacus: Vengeance. The cast includes Graham McTavish as Korris, Tenika Davis as Achillia, Claudia Black as Cossutia, Jamaica Vaughan as Hilara, and more. Starz initially picked up the series in 2023. However, in May 2025, Starz and Lionsgate officially split, leaving ownership of Spartacus with the latter. "What if Ashur lived, rewarded with the gladiator school where he once bled?" an official description from Starz reads. "With Achillia, a gladiatrix, he sparks spectacles that defy Roman elite."
