Fast & Furious Franchise Expands to Peacock with Four New Shows

The Fast & Furious universe is set to expand with not one, but four new shows on Peacock. Vin Diesel, the franchise’s figurehead, announced this exciting development at the NBC Universal upfront presentation. This move marks a significant shift for the high-octane action series as fans eagerly await the release of Fast Forever, the 11th mainline movie, scheduled for 2028.

Diesel revealed that Peacock will be launching four shows within the Fast and Furious universe. However, details on how these shows will fit into the franchise’s overarching narrative are still scarce. According to Deadline, Peacock has only confirmed the first show, with the other three reportedly in various stages of development at Universal Television. At this time, Peacock has not disclosed a release date or casting information for the project.

While it’s unclear if Vin Diesel will appear in any of the upcoming Fast & Furious shows, he will serve as an executive producer alongside Sam Vincent through One Race. Mike Daniels, known for his work on Sons of Anarchy and The Vampire Diaries, will write the pilot episode alongside Wolfe Coleman, with whom he collaborated on the 2016 series Shades of Blue. Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Chris Morgan, and Jeff Kirschenbaum will also executive produce the shows.

A Decade-Long Desire to Enter the TV Space

At the upfront presentation, Diesel explained that the franchise has been hesitant to expand into television, but fan demand has driven the decision to explore this new medium. “As you all know, we are very precious about these movies, but over the last decade, we’ve realized that the fans have wanted more, they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories,” Diesel said. “And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.”

The Fast & Furious franchise began with Diesel in the 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious, which has since evolved into a decades-long film franchise known for its high-octane action and rotating cast of well-known actors. The most recent movie, Fast X, premiered in 2023, marking a change of pace from the usual one-to-two-year gap between films.

What to Expect from the Franchise

For fans looking for more Fast & Furious content, there is an animated spin-off, Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. Additionally, the title reveal for Fast Forever, scheduled for release on March 17, 2028, has already been announced.
