James Gunn has shared a first look at Nicholas Hoult in full body armor as Lex Luthor from the set of the upcoming DCU sequel, Man of Tomorrow. The DC Studios co-CEO posted the image to social media, giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Clark Kent’s archrival. In the photo, Hoult appears to wear near-comic-accurate gear designed to help him stand his ground against the Son of Krypton and the alien threat Brainiac when the film hits theaters next year.

This reveal arrives as reports confirm Supergirl will have a major part in the DC Universe going forward. That casting news suggests the film will expand the superhero roster significantly beyond the main duo. While the focus remains on the Superman franchise, other major projects are also making headlines. For instance, Matt Reeves recently unveiled the full cast for The Batman Part II, which features Scarlett Johansson in a key role.

Sebastian Stan has also confirmed he will portray multiple characters in the upcoming Dark Knight sequel. These developments highlight a busy period for superhero cinema as studios roll out new details for their biggest franchises.
