Apple is expected to maintain its regional battery strategy for the iPhone 18 Pro, following the same approach seen with the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. This means different cell capacities will be deployed depending on the target market.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Chinese version of the iPhone 18 Pro will ship with a 4,056mAh battery. The US model, by contrast, is projected to receive a larger 4,288mAh cell.

iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro
This split design mirrors the hardware decisions made for the iPhone 17 Pro series. The primary driver behind this difference is the SIM card hardware. While Chinese models continue to include a physical SIM card slot, US iPhone 17 Pro units have moved entirely to eSIM technology.
Eliminating the physical SIM tray freed up internal space in the US versions, allowing Apple to install a larger battery. For the iPhone 17 Pro, the Chinese battery capacity was 3,988mAh, while the US equivalent reached 4,252mAh. Industry observers note that this trend aligns with broader efforts to refine device internals, similar to discussions surrounding Apple’s plans to resurrect titanium bodies for iPhone in upcoming generations.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are tipped to arrive this September. Alongside the new A20 Pro chip, rumors point to a variable-aperture main rear camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, and fresh color choices. These hardware updates come as the tech giant prepares for its annual developer conference. Apple’s June 2026 WWDC launch date confirmed earlier this year, with the company unveiling its full programme for WWDC 2026 in the lead-up to the event.
While battery sizes remain a key differentiator, Apple continues to strengthen its connectivity ecosystem. Recent reports indicate that Amazon Snaps Up Apple’s 20% Globalstar Stake, iPhone Satellite Service Stays Intact, signaling continued investment in satellite communication features for future devices.
