A new leak has pulled back the curtain on the launch window for Star Wars Zero Company, the upcoming turn-based strategy game set in a galaxy far, far away.
According to billbil-kun at Dealabs, the title will hit PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 27. That timing places it mere days before September turns into a traffic jam of major releases, as publishers scramble to clear out ahead of GTA 6.
More information on Star Wars Zero Company is expected to surface tomorrow during the Summer Game Fest showcase. For now, the leak has already confirmed two price tiers: a $49.99 Standard Edition offered in both physical and digital formats, and a $59.99 Deluxe Edition restricted to digital. What the Deluxe Edition actually includes remains under wraps, though it reportedly will not grant early access.
Bit Reactor, a studio founded by XCOM veterans, is leading development with support from Respawn Entertainment, the team behind Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. EA is publishing. A previously released trailer established the game’s setting during the Clone Wars era, following an elite mercenary unit that counts at least one lightsaber user and a Mandalorian among its ranks.
“Command an elite squad through a gritty and authentic story in Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactics game developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games,” reads a blurb for the game. “Set in the twilight of the Clone Wars, you will step into the shoes of Hawks, a former Republic officer who leads Zero Company – an unconventional outfit of professionals for hire hailing from across the galaxy.
“Hawks and Zero Company are recruited for an operation that pits them against an emerging threat that will consume the galaxy if left unchecked. To succeed, Hawks will lead a team of uneasy allies who must set aside their differences to overcome nearly impossible odds.”
The late August slot looks strategically sound. September has become increasingly crowded with titles including The Blood of the Dawnwalker, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, Marvel’s Wolverine, Dune: Awakening, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and the Switch 2 version of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Rayman Legends follows on October 1. The PlayStation State of Play earlier this week helped set the stage for this packed fall season, with Marvel’s Wolverine among the headliners. Fans are also keeping an eye on the Summer Game Fest lineup to see what other surprises might emerge.
