Man Who Sent SWAT Teams to GTA 5 Actor’s Home Sentenced to 4 Years in jail

Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in Grand Theft Auto 5, has secured a significant legal victory after a harasser who repeatedly targeted him with swatting calls was sentenced to four years in prison.

Luke has cultivated a regular streaming presence focused on GTA Online, but that visibility has come with serious risks. He has been swatted multiple times, a dangerous prank where an individual makes a false emergency call to dispatch armed police to a person’s home while they are broadcasting live. The hoaxer typically fabricates claims of violence to trigger an aggressive law enforcement response. Luke’s personal address was leaked online, and documented evidence shows he was swatted on at least four separate occasions.

The situation escalated to the point where police officers themselves recognized the pattern. During an incident in December 2025, two officers arrived at Luke’s door already aware they were likely responding to another fake call. Video from the stream captured the officers and Luke exchanging merry Christmas wishes before he resumed playing GTA 5.

This week brought concrete consequences for at least one offender. Luke posted on social media about a letter from the U.S. Department of Justice detailing the sentence, which includes four years of incarceration, three years of supervised release, and a $200 fine.

“Don’t drop the soap in the shower douchebag,” Luke wrote. “Won’t be swatting anyone anytime soon… and they’re coming for the ones he ratted out as well.”

He closed the message with five star emojis, a clear reference to GTA’s maximum wanted level system.

By publicizing the sentencing, Luke appears to be sending a warning to others who might consider similar harassment. The timing coincides with anticipation for GTA 6, which Rockstar has scheduled for release on November 19. The company has been making headlines elsewhere in recent months, including when Rockstar ordered the immediate shutdown of the GTA 5 Rage: MP modding platform, and when Rockstar faced backlash from a UK politician over content concerns.

Luke will presumably be hoping for smoother streaming sessions once the next installment arrives.
