Sam Levinson has confirmed that Euphoria is finished for good, with Season 3 marking the definitive end of the HBO drama.
The series creator told the New York Times (paywall) that Season 3, Episode 8, titled “In God We Trust,” serves as both the season and series finale. Levinson explained his reasoning behind the decision.
“In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me,”
Levinson said.
The teen drama, which starred Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer, launched seven years ago and quickly became a breakout hit for HBO. Season 2 arrived in January 2022. A four-year stretch separated that season from Season 3, and during that interval much of the cast ascended to full-fledged Hollywood stardom. Blockbuster film roles consumed increasing portions of their schedules.
Given those circumstances, the conclusion of the series was widely expected. Zendaya herself had previously signaled in interviews that she viewed Season 3 as the show’s natural endpoint.
Fans largely reacted with acceptance rather than surprise. “It’s for the best and I feel like we already knew this was going to happen,” one viewer said. “I can’t imagine if it got another season.” Another pointed to Zendaya’s earlier comments, noting, “Yeah I dunno why anyone would think Season 4 was ever gonna be a thing when Zendaya said this season concludes Euphoria.” One fan offered a broader assessment of the show’s legacy: “It wasn’t a perfect show or anything but damn it will be a foundational text for Gen Z and thank you to Zendaya for pulling off such a role.”
The conclusion of Euphoria arrives as several other major series are also wrapping up their runs. The Boys finale sparks a wave of reactions online, with viewers processing the end of another era-defining show. The showrunner has also denied that Vought Rising nods in Season 5 stem from ‘Craven commercialism’, clarifying production choices as the series concludes.
In March, Zendaya, now among Hollywood’s most sought-after and commercially reliable performers, revealed she was considering scaling back her workload. She worried that audiences might be growing weary of her near-ubiquitous screen presence.
“I guess, you know, I just hope people don’t get sick of me,”

“And I really appreciate everyone who supports any of the movies or supports my career in any kind of way. I’m deeply appreciative, and like I said, I just hope you guys don’t get sick of me this year. Because I’ll tell you what, after this I’m disappearing for a little bit. I’m going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit.”
Her schedule remains packed through the remainder of 2026. She appears in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, opening in July, followed later that same month by Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland. She rounds out the year with Dune Part 3 in December.
Sydney Sweeney also has multiple projects in development, including The Housemaid’s Secret and a live-action Gundam adaptation.
