Valve has officially confirmed that both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, first unveiled in November 2025, will arrive this summer. The company shared the update through a brief blog post on June 5, 2026, though the announcement itself centered on an expansion of the company’s Verified program. For more on the timeline, see our report on Steam Machines Set for Summer Debut, Valve Confirms.

The post targets developers specifically, outlining how the Steam Machine and Steam Frame will now fall under the Verified program. That program debuted alongside the Steam Deck and gives buyers a clear picture of how a game will perform on a handheld device before they commit to a purchase.
Valve stated that earning a Verified badge on the Steam Machine will require nearly the same standards as the Steam Deck. For the Steam Frame VR headset, the badge will signal how the device performs as a standalone unit, with no need to tether it to outside hardware.

Beyond the summer launch window, Valve offered little else. Pricing remains unannounced, but analysts point to rising component costs as a likely driver for higher prices. Memory chip costs have climbed steadily, and Valve raised Steam Deck prices sharply during recent restocks, with units now selling at €730 or €878 depending on configuration. That marks a roughly €277 jump from earlier pricing. This context is explored further in our coverage of Valve Raised Steam Deck Prices Sharply, and It Still Sold Out.
The hardware push comes as Valve faces renewed antitrust scrutiny, with Gabe Newell’s deposition fueling fresh debate over whether Steam holds monopoly power in PC gaming distribution.
