Xbox Showcase to Highlight Games from Other Platforms, Helix Updates Not on the Agenda

Last Updated: May 29, 2026

The 2026 Xbox Showcase will keep shining a spotlight on rival platforms, Microsoft has confirmed, though anyone holding out for news on the next-generation console will be left waiting.

Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty laid out what to expect during an appearance on the

on Thursday, May 21. He said the company plans to be upfront about which platforms its games are landing on, so viewers should brace for PlayStation logos to appear when the summer showcase kicks off in June.

“We’ll be very clear about what platforms a game is coming to and want to continue the precedent,” Booty said. “I think we’ve got a good system going, where we make it clear in Showcase.”

Microsoft has hinted at a possible return to Xbox exclusive titles, but its multiplatform push has been running strong for years now. Several upcoming games remain in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. That means titles such as Fable are still headed to PS5, and the June event will give Microsoft another chance to hammer that message home.

When it comes to Microsoft’s next-generation hardware, the company apparently isn’t ready to pull back the curtain. Rather than sketch out the future of its broader Xbox strategy, the showcase will zero in on software.

“We really want to focus on the teams and on the games, and this is not going to be a place where we’re going to talk strategy, broadly. There are certainly some strategic things that are out there and things we want to bring clarity to, but the focus here is on the games. For the long term, we want to make the right decisions, not fast decisions.

“I can also say that there won’t be Helix news, so Helix will not be in this Showcase. Again, we want to get everything about that right.”

Microsoft first revealed it was building a new gaming console in June 2025. A purported codename, Helix, later surfaced through unofficial channels. Confirmed details about the device remain scarce beyond the pledge that it will handle both Xbox and PC games. More information is expected to trickle out later this year.
