Digital Eclipse is preparing to launch a remastered version of the Toy Story 3 video game, bundled with a collection featuring the first two entries in the franchise. The publisher has set October 15th as the release date for both Toy Story: Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3: Complete Edition across PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Consumers can pick up both titles in a single physical package priced at $39.99, or purchase each release individually for $24.99. Toy Story: Retro Roundup bundles together the original Toy Story video game, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, Toy Story Racer, and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. Digital Eclipse has also included A Bug’s Life video game as an added bonus.
The collection introduces several modern conveniences, including the option to save at any point, a rewind function that lets players retry tough sections without replaying entire stages, cheat codes, and upgraded visuals. Players will also get access to fresh behind-the-scenes featurettes and interviews with the developers who originally built these titles.
Toy Story 3 stands out as the highlight for many younger players, widely considered among the strongest licensed games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation. The title recreates emotional moments from the Pixar film and supports local co-op play. Its standout feature remains Toy Box Mode, an open-world sandbox that offers non-linear missions, multiple playable characters, and the ability to customize a western town. The Complete Edition brings this content to current hardware with 4K resolution, 60 frames per second, and all previously platform-exclusive material included.
We’re excited for players to jump back into Toy Story 3 and experience the creativity, humor and heart that makes Toy Story such a landmark franchise. Toy Story 3 is celebrated as one of the great movie-to-game adaptations ever made, and it has been an absolute pleasure to rediscover.
Mike Mika at Digital Eclipse offered those remarks about the project.
The original Toy Story 3 game received praise in 2010 as a solid example of licensed game development done properly.
Toy Story 3 is an example of when a license game is done mostly right. The cooperative story mode is a nice touch, and the Toy Box mode is still fun despite it’s rather limited customization options, I just wish it’d have had a cooperative options like the other console versions do, as it’s less family or party friendly. Older players might be occasionally bored by how simple the game’s quests can be, but in general TS3 manages to be most everything your kids (or your own inner kid) wanted out of a Toy Story game.
The timing of this announcement aligns neatly with Disney’s broader promotional push. The studio is also investing in building anticipation for the upcoming theatrical release, as seen with Taylor Swift Announces Original Country Song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for Toy Story 5. The film itself arrives in theaters on June 19th. For those following the latest industry news, Sony recently confirmed a June date for State of Play, which will also tease fresh looks at Wolverine and more games for PS5.
Both Toy Story: Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3: Complete Edition will release on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 15th.
