Titanium

Apple has been forced to reconsider the use of titanium in its iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models due to overheating issues. The switch to titanium bodies was problematic because of the metal's poor thermal conductivity. Apple has since quietly reverted to aluminium casings for the iPhone 17, but according to Instant Digital, this is seen as a temporary solution. The information comes from an unnamed source who claims Apple is actively seeking a way to return to titanium. Two potential solutions are currently under consideration. The first involves upgrading the heat dissipation system using liquid metal. However, this approach faces significant challenges in terms of production complexity and cost at a large scale. The other option is to employ an 'enhanced' titanium alloy with better thermal conductivity. The source is confident that Apple will revert to titanium as soon as a viable method is developed. This is not expected to happen before 2027. In the meantime, iPhone 17 has returned to aluminium casing.
