Sony acquired Bungie in 2022, but the acquisition has yet to yield the desired results. Bungie was purchased as part of PlayStation's strategy to expand its live service offerings. The studio consulted on other PlayStation projects, including The Last of Us Online, which was later canceled following feedback from Bungie. Bungie provided Naughty Dog with insights on creating and supporting a live service game, which led to Naughty Dog walking away from the project.
