Sony Sets June Date for State of Play, Wolverine and PS5 Games in the Mix

Last Updated: May 20, 2026

Sony has announced a State of Play showcase, set for 2 June at 2pm PT, 5pm ET, 10pm UK time, or 11pm CEST.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the event will last over 60 minutes. It will include a new look at Insomniac’s ‘Wolverine’ game, as well as updates and announcements for games coming to the PS5.

“State of Play returns Tuesday, June 2 with more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world,” said Tim Turi, Content Communications Manager, Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The show will kick off with Marvel’s ‘Wolverine’, which is due for release on 15 September. Sony fans are hoping to see a clear picture of the exclusives coming to their console for the rest of 2026 and beyond. Will Naughty Dog’s ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ make an appearance? Will we get a release date for Guerrilla’s multiplayer ‘Horizon’ spinoff, ‘Horizon Hunters Gathering’? And what about Haven’s ‘Fairgames’?

Sony has reportedly stopped PC ports for its narrative single-player games. This means games like ‘Wolverine’ and ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ will stay exclusive to the PS5. However, multiplayer games will continue to be released on PC.

Will other Sony-owned studios reveal their upcoming games? Bend, the developer behind ‘Days Gone’, Media Molecule, the creator of ‘Dreams’, and Sony Santa Monica, known for ‘God of War’, are all expected to have game announcements. There are many rumours surrounding ‘God of War’, and State of Play could be the perfect opportunity to confirm them.

It might be too early for the next game from Sucker Punch Productions, the team behind ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ and ‘Ghost of Yotei’. However, fans are curious about what Polyphony Digital has in store for the next ‘Gran Turismo’, and what Team Asobi, the developers of ‘Astro Bot’, are working on next.

There are also questions about third-party developers. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which Sony is publishing and is set to release in August, could make an appearance. Konami, the developer behind ‘Metal Gear’ and ‘Silent Hill’, has shown up with reveals in previous State of Play showcases, so fans are hoping for more. Square Enix has hinted that a reveal of ‘Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’ is on the horizon, too.

Sony isn’t the only company with a big showcase in June. Microsoft has an Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for 7 June. Nintendo is also expected to have a Direct around the same time, as it usually does each year.
