Game of Thrones and Star Wars casting chief heads hunt for new James Bond

Last Updated: May 16, 2026

The search for the next James Bond actor is now underway. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed this in a statement released on Thursday.

“The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

Nina Gold, a highly acclaimed casting director, will lead the search. Her impressive track record includes discovering talented actors such as Emilia Clarke, Claire Foy, and Eddie Redmayne. Gold has worked on numerous UK-based series, including Game of Thrones, The Crown, and Slow Horses. Her film credits include Hot Fuzz, The King’s Speech, and Les Misérables.

As a British native, Gold has extensive experience in casting for UK productions. Her work on Game of Thrones and other notable series has earned her a reputation for spotting emerging talent. Notably, she discovered Daisy Ridley and John Boyega for the Star Wars franchise, casting them in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Solo, and Andor.

With Gold at the helm, it’s likely that she has already identified potential candidates for the role of James Bond. If there is a talented young actor in the UK who is a good fit for the part, Gold’s experience and expertise would ensure they are on her radar.

The next James Bond film, Bond 26, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve from a screenplay by Steven Knight.
