In recent days, Adobe has (definitively) terminated the Flash plugin.
To help its users, the Adobe website explains today how to uninstall Flash from your machine, via a small dedicated program.
Adobe Flash, it’s over
Born in 1993, then renamed in Flash in 1996, the famous plugin was once a star of the Web, before becoming a real nest of loopholes. The plugin was also notably not welcomed by Steve Jobs at Apple.
As announced, the Flash format has therefore disappeared on December 31, 2020, and Adobe invites all users to uninstall the program from their computer.
Via its support page, Adobe therefore provides Internet users with a small “Uninstaller” type program. The latter, available for Mac as well as for Windows, aims to assist the user in uninstalling the plugin.
On its official website, Adobe explains: “As Adobe will no longer support Flash Player after December 31, 2020 and Adobe will block Flash content in Flash Player from January 12, 2021, Adobe strongly recommends that all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems. ”
Recall that the scheduled end of Flash was announced in 2017 by Adobe, which allowed programmers and other creators to migrate to HTML5 format. Browsers have also been pushing aside Flash technology for a few long months.
