Psyonix, the developer behind Epic Games’ Rocket League, has shared a glimpse of the title running on Unreal Engine 6. This update includes a debut look at the game’s fresh logo design.
This visual overhaul was announced during the Rocket League Championship Series Paris Major event. Alongside the trailer showcasing the updated action sports title, attendees saw the new purple branding for Unreal Engine 6.
Our team was present at the venue to cover the announcement. Viewers can watch the reveal trailer for the Unreal Engine 6 version of Rocket League in the section below.
Neither Epic nor Psyonix has detailed the specific technical benefits of Unreal Engine 6 compared to the previous iteration. The trailer primarily highlights the improved visuals available to players. It did confirm, however, that the footage was captured real-time in game.
This announcement represents the first instance of Epic displaying footage of any title operating on Unreal Engine 6. By contrast, the launch of Unreal Engine 5 featured a longer tech demo designed to demonstrate the new capabilities. That demo did not lead to a full game for players, unlike the current Rocket League release.
The description accompanying the reveal carried this message.
“What. A. Moment.,” a description for the Unreal Engine 6 reveal said. “The crowd reacts to the new era of Rocket League.”
The release date for Unreal Engine 6 remains unknown. However, prominent Fortnite creator
noticed something in the trailer. The conclusion suggested Epic plans to group Fortnite, Rocket League, and other titles into a single hub application.
Although the trailer hints at significant changes ahead, many details regarding the announcement remain vague. We await further information from Epic on the engine update. In the meantime, IGN has published a new interview with the Psyonix team.
